Considered as the top most medical college in the nation, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), on Thursday, announced the results for its MBBS entrance exam. The online exam was conducted on June 1, 2015.
Navsheen Singal (18) from Hisar (Haryana) has scored the top position in the AIIMS MBBS 2015 entrance examination. Navsheen had always wanted to become a doctor since his childhood. But, his parents wanted him to be an engineer and were against his very decision.
In AIIMS MBBS 2015, a total of 14,417 candidates from over three lakh have been selected against 672 available seats in the seven states, namely, Delhi, Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Rishikesh, Raipur and bhubhneshwar. The list of shortlisted candidates can be accessed on the official website of AIIMS.
Being the oldest, AIIMS-Delhi has always been the foremost choice of the students. As per the issued guidelines of the Supreme Court, the last date to fill the available seats is September 30. There will be three levels of counselling for blocking the vacant seats. Sometimes, AIIMS has to conduct more number of counselling rounds in order to fill up the vacant seats. The first round of counselling takes place in July and it usually ends within the maximum duration of four days.
During the counselling sessions, the candidates are asked over to choose their favoured location for AIIMS college, on the basis of their rank according to their respective categories (General or reserved). The academic session for AIIMS MBBS 2015 will start after September 30.
The AIIMS medical colleges are situated in Delhi, Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Jodhpur (Rajasthan), Raipur (Chattisgarh), Patna (Bihar), and Rishikesh (Uttarakhand).
The candidates will be only allowed to choose the institute of their choice as per their rank in their respective category, not taking in the matter the choices they have filled in the AIIMS MBBS 2015 application forms.
The All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was founded in 1956 by an Act of Parliament as an institution of national importance. The prime objective of the institute is to develop the patterns of teaching at the undergraduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) level in the sector of Medical Education. In the exam of AIIMS MBBS 2014, out of 672 MBBS seats in AIIMS, 337 were claimed by unreserved category students.
